My roomie is shopping for a 1969 Westfalia and found this one down in South Carolina. It’s located in a small town about 2 hours from Charlotte and he can’t find a mobile mechanic close enough to inspect it for him. It seems alright but has some spooky rust down below and I’d love to get a real look at it.
Is there anyone close to Dalzell that could have a look at this thing? I’d by happy to pay you for your time and gas via PayPal or similar. Spooky rust photos below. Would be great to hear a second opinion. The ask is $10k.

The key areas for rust are the front floorboards, “doglegs”, rocker panels, cargo floorboards, underneath the front windshield, and the edge of rear tailgate. You’re not going to find one without any rust, so if you can get with no major structural rust (i.e. no major holes in the floor), you should be set. This one on BaT Auctions is one of the best I’ve seen in awhile, and it’s a Riviera, which is in my opinion a better company the Westfalia. It’s also the 1600cc, which is the best VW lat four IMHO. The seller’s redone the wood and vinyl, and has upgraded the carb to a Solex. It’s worth showing to him.
